New additions to the LuK RepSetDMF range for passenger cars 100 % compliancy with OE repair specifications

At the beginning of 2009 Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket introduced the LuK RepSetDMF – a new practical clutch repair kit developed to complement the two well-established repair solutions LuK RepSet and LuK RepSetPro. At the Equip Auto 2009 aftermarket specialist Schaeffler will present new additions to its existing LuK RepSetDMF range. DMF stands for dual mass flywheel. The set contains the DMF, the clutch disc and clutch pressure plate, either a conventional release bearing or a hydraulic CSC and the bolts required for installation (stretch bolts). If available from the range of Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket products the LuK RepSetDMF also comes with the required guiding sleeve. A second version of the LuK RepSetDMF includes the damped flywheel clutch (DFC) – a pre-assembled unit incorporating the DMF, clutch disc and clutch pressure plate – as well as a conventional release bearing or hydraulic CSC.

The LuK RepsetDMF provides workshops with all components required for the clutch repair in one single box – perfectly tuned and meeting OE quality standards. This enables garages to perform car repairs in compliancy with most current manufacturers’ specifications and ensures fail-safe functioning of the DMF in the drive train. The DMF meets the ever-increasing demands for driving comfort by absorbing undesirable engine vibration. It consists of two masses which can rotate against each other. An arc spring damping system is integrated into the DMF enabling it to absorb and practically neutralize torsional vibrations of the engine.

Especially older vehicles require sound technical solutions to meet OE specifications precisely and ensure maximum operational reliability. In contrast, the use of alternative, supposedly cheaper repair solutions which do not comply with OE specifications or improper installation of clutch components can cause considerable damage. Vibration in the gearbox or down the power train can entail costly gearbox repairs and, in a worst-case scenario, even cause a total write-off.

Another benefit of the LuK RepSetDMF: Some types of DMF and clutch repair kits from different manufacturers are no longer compatible. The gap is filled by the LuK RepSetDMF. It includes all requisite components which are perfectly tuned to one another thereby ruling out the risk of assembling incompatible parts.

Alongside the LuK RepSetDMF, the LuK RepSet and the LuK RepSetPro remain part of the Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket product range. While both LuK RepSet and LuK RepSetPro contain a clutch disc and a clutch pressure plate, the LuK RepSet comes with a conventional release bearing and the LuK RepSetPro always contains a hydraulic CSC.
