LuK, INA and FAG – OE quality spare parts and services for the commercial vehicle (CV) aftermarket

FAG: Prime supplier of CV wheel bearings
With its FAG brand the Schaeffler Group is an outstanding wheel bearing supplier owing to its long-standing engineering partnership with vehicle manufacturers. The company supplies all the OE wheel bearings for CV and bus models from Volvo/Renault, DAF, Mack, City Bus USA (Avin Meritor), ZF bus axles, Schmitz semi trailers and MAN rear axles and 80% of OE SAF axles.

Besides individual bearings and wheel bearing modules for CVs, buses and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) the FAG aftermarket product range also includes single seals and seal kits for CVs and buses. In the LCV segment a complete range of wheel bearing kits including the necessary service parts is available.

Innovations for the aftermarket: FAG repair insert unit
Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket was the first supplier to introduce innovative insert units for CV hub repair. The pre-assembled and lubricated bearing units for one wheel hub incorporate two tapered roller bearings which are connected to each other after installation via a retaining ring. Thus, for example, it is possible to service almost 20 different Volvo CV hub types with only three FAG insert unit designs. Schaeffler Automotive aftermarket is first to market with repair insert units for CV hubs which have not been available to the independent spare parts market until now. In the Volvo CV sector alone, this innovative repair solution can be used on over 700 different models. FAG insert units are easy to install. In addition to step-by-step repair instructions in printed and electronic form, Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket also supplies the special tool required for a professional repair. This tool is included in every product package. With its product debut Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket now supplies the independent aftermarket with a service solution enabling workshops to repair wheel hubs of the most popular CV makes and models. In addition, the multi-use FAG insert units require less storage space and facilitate the ordering process.

Workshops and distributors can find the complete range of FAG aftermarket applications for CVs in the current 580-page FAG "Wheel bearings and Seals Kits” catalogue. Unlike other catalogues on the market, the FAG CV spare parts catalogue, which features five languages, includes vehicle and axle descriptions which make part allocation much easier.

Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket has produced two brochures to make it easier to handle this wealth of information: The technical brochure contains a whole range of interesting facts on wheel bearings for CVs from FAG, Europe’s biggest manufacturer of CV wheel bearings, highlighting historical facts, FAG’s innovative power in the fields of automotive, industrial and aerospace applications and the product range including an explanation of the various engineering principles. The failure diagnosis brochure, on the other hand, explains the handling of special tools and provides fitting instructions. It also features typical wheel bearing damage patterns, the effects they can cause and explains how to remedy problems.

LuK: OE excellence for the drive train
Dual mass flywheel (DMF) and self-adjusting clutch (SAC) are just two of the many innovations fathered by LuK since the foundation of the company in 1965. They are synonymous with highest driving comfort and environmentally-friendly drive technology. And they are an inherent part of the LCV range of spare parts.

The LuK range of drive train components for CVs and buses includes clutches, clutch discs and release bearings, complemented by power steering pumps, conventional flywheels and the requisite service parts and pilot bearings. Alongside conventional clutches, LuK offers innovative technologies for LCV applications – for example self-adjusting clutches (SAC) and dual mass flywheels (DMF). Newly available to the aftermarket: the specially developed LuK DMF special tool. The tool allows for rock and freeplay angle to be measured while the DMF is mounted. With its full-service solutions such as the LuK RepSet for CVs and LCVs or the LuK RepSetPro with additional CSC for light vans, the company provides valuable benefits to parts distributors and workshops alike. Other product lines available for LCVs are vacuum pumps, power steering pumps and LuK torque converters. The product range also includes components for hydraulic release systems (e.g. CSCs) and service parts for the clutch environment (e.g. guiding sleeves) for all vehicle classes.

Trusted partner of agricultural machinery traders
In the agricultural sector Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket aims at improving the supply of spare parts to farm machinery dealers and providing workshops with greater support in the increasingly complex area of equipment maintenance. The company’s strengths lie in its wide range of products, a corporate logistic network and its extensive engineering, marketing and sales expertise. In conjunction with agricultural machinery manufacturers and in parallel with their brand-bound spare parts distributors, the company today primarily provides clutch systems for tractor models with manual gearshifts manufactured by 75 brands over the past 40 years. Another key product is the torsion damper for tractors with powershift transmissions. For both applications Schaeffler Group is the leading original equipment manufacturer.

INA: Comprehensive range of engine and transmission spare parts
Under the INA brand individual belt drive components are offered for the CV, bus, LCV and tractor aftermarket. This includes automatic belt tensioners (mechanical or hydraulic), tension rollers, idlers and overrunning alternator pulleys. In the LCV segment tensioner sets and tensioner kits are also available. The INA range of valve train components for LCVs encompasses mechanical and hydraulic bucket tappets and rocker arms and finger followers with hydraulic support and insert element. In addition, INA offers an extensive range of transmission components for both manual and automatic gearboxes on CVs, buses, LCVs and tractors.
